NFL Betting: Divisional Round Odds Preview
January 06, 2014
After one blowout and three nail biters in the Wild Card Round of this season’s NFL playoffs we are ready to move onto this weekend’s Divisional Round, where the big guns from both the AFC and the NFC will be put to the test by last weekend’s survivors.
Saturday’s action gets underway with New Orleans heading back on the road to face Seattle. The Saints struggled on the road this season with a 3-5 straight-up record that included a costly 1-7 mark against the spread, but they ousted Philadelphia 26-24 as 3-point road underdogs last Saturday on a last-second field goal. New Orleans was hammered 34-7 as 6.5-point road underdogs in an early December trip to Seattle and it has been opened by 5Dimes as an 8-point underdog on the football betting odds this time around. The total has been set at 47.5.
Later Saturday night, the Indianapolis Colts will tangle with the New England Patriots as 7.5-point underdogs on the NFL odds with the total set at 52.5. Indianapolis trailed by 21 points at the half in this past Saturday’s Wild Card matchup against Kansas City. It stormed back in the second half to pull out a thrilling 45-44 victory as a 1.5-point home underdog on the closing football betting odds for that game.
The early game on Sunday’s schedule sends San Francisco on the road against Carolina as a 2-point favorite on the NFL odds. The 49ers clawed their way past Green Bay in the bitter cold this past Sunday in a 23-20 victory that featured another game-ending field goal. They closed as 3.5-point road favorites against the Packers with the total staying UNDER the 47-point betting line. The total for the Panthers’ game has been set at 43.
The final matchup to decide which four teams will move onto the conference championships next Sunday is an AFC West battle between San Diego and Denver. The Chargers ran all over Cincinnati in a 27-10 victory this past Sunday as 7-point underdogs on the football betting odds on the road. San Diego lost to Denver 28-20 as a 7-point home underdog in their first meeting this season, but it evened the series with a 27-20 victory on December 12 as a 10-point underdog on the road. The line for Sunday’s game has the Broncos once again favored by 10 points at home with the total set at 54.5.
